Triplemente feliz quien está segura
de sí misma, y tiene tan firme el corazón,
que no se deja tentar por bienes posibles
ni teme la incertidumbre del azar,
sino que, como un barco muy marinero, corta con fuerza
las olas embravecidas, y mantiene firme el rumbo;
en modo alguno la aparta de él la tempestad,
ni tampoco el falso placer de un clima más benigno.
tal seguridad en sí misma no ha de temer el rencor
de enemigos envidiosos; ni buscar el favor de los amigos;
sino que con el apoyo de su fuerza perseverante
no se desvía ni hacia unos ni hacia otros.
Feliz la mujer que con tanto reposo descansa
pero aún más feliz aquel a quien ama una mujer así
